The third servant in the parable doesn't really seem to know his master. He has a corrupted view of the master. Sometimes when we listen to other people talk about God we end up with a corrupt view of God. 
 
Question: think about your time in God's Word. Do you spend more time listening to people/books talking about God or do you listen to God talk about God? Why is it important that we listen to what God says most of all?

This is the first of 7 repentance Psalms. David has plenty of sin to repent from ... just like us. Here's the big point, when I repent God forgives me. The Lord hears and the Lord accepts the prayers of the broken hearted. Go to the Lord and receive forgiveness today.

God saves us to serve him. This is the culmination of Psalm 5. We just learned God saves by grace. We respond to this amazing grace by serving him. God wants you to live a life walking along his path. God knows what's best for you.

As David concludes the Psalm he remembers that God puts more joy in our hearts than they have when their wine overflows. God makes us dwell in safety.

In the messiness of life, David cries out to God. He's in a deep place of spiritual depression. He feels like everyone is against him. 
 
Think about all the things against you in life, the times when you felt this way. The times it seemed everyone was against you. Remember, God is there for you (that's how the Psalm ends). 
 
Question: What can we do when we feel spiritually depressed or down in the dumps because of all the stuff going on around us?

Paul gives 7 reasons he could put his faith in his works: rituals, heritage, rank, traditions, religiousness, hard work, legal righteousness. At the end of the day, he counts them as nothing compared to Christ.

2. Thinking about works of the flesh, how can we get to the point of saying, "I count them all as nothing for the sake of Christ."?
