[The Torn Net / 찢어진 그물]

요한복음 21:
3 시몬 베드로가 나는 물고기 잡으러 가노라 하니 그들이 우리도 함꼐 가겠다 하고 나가서 배에 올랐으나 그 날 밤에 아무 것도 잡지 못하였더니
4 날이 새어갈 때에 예수께서 바닷가에 서셨으나 제자들이 예수이신 줄 알지 못하는지라
5 예수께서 이르시되 얘들아 너희에게 고기가 있느냐 대답하되 없나이다
6 이르시되 그물을 배 오른쪽에 던지라 그리하면 잡으리라 하시니 이에 던졌더니 물고기가 많아 그물을 들 수 없더라
7 예수께서 사랑하시는 그 제자가 베드로에게 이르되 주님이시라하니 시몬 베드로가 벗고 있다가 주님이라 하는 말을 듣고 겉옷을 두른 후에 바다로 뛰어 내리더라
11 시몬 베드로가 올라가서 그물을 육지에 끌어 올리니 가득히 찬 큰 물고기가 백쉰세 마리라 이같이 많으나 그물이 찢어지지 아니하였더라

누가복음 5: 6 그렇게 하니 고기를 잡으 것이 심히 많아 그물이 찢어지는지라

John 21:
3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
4 Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore: yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
5 Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.”
6 He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish.
7 That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea.
11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn.

Luke 5: 6 And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. (ESV)

[The Torn Net / 찢어진 그물]

We believe that we are already successful because Jesus has already done for our success physically, psychologically and spiritually.
But people easily not know how to have this successful feeling and fact.

After Jesus’ resurrection the disciples went back their home towns of Galilee Sea for fishing, originally their jobs.

Different mode of existence from that of Jesus’ former earthly figure, which we are going to have in heaven, 1 ) had not been known yet to the disciples in verse 5; ‘Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore: yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.’ So they did not recognize Jesus.

As the disciples recognized Jesus, I would like to call your attention v. 11 that the net was not torn in spite of full of large fish, 153 of them.

In Luke 5: 6 when Peter had met Jesus as a teacher without knowing as the Lord, ‘They enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking.’

People of course can success financially with many teachers like rich parents, experts of capitalism, power of some organizations, etc.
But they are like Oh Yeong-Soo in Squid Game, one of K-drama who saying in his last deathbed I had been meaningless life even rich. People easily cannot have a successful mind or feeling even though others envy their success.

After recognizing Jesus as the Lord rather than a teacher Peter threw himself into the sea. And the fishes and the nets were safe which meant he still kept successful feeling and fact.

Strangely Peter did not care about fishes except some sharing with Jesus. 2)

We are concentrating to God’s word and not much care about our success. That’s our secret to keep meaningful life with Jesus.
