The Word of God reveals that God's plan of redemption was ordained or predestinated before the foundation of the world. The wisdom and power of God in reference to salvation is revealed through the gospel and is only found in Jesus Christ (
Romans 1:16;
1 Corinthians 1:24).
Ephesians 1:8 and
Colossians 2:3 reveal how wisdom is found in Jesus Christ. If the gospel is hid, it is hid to those who are lost in whom satan has blinded their minds from the light of the gospel (
2 Corinthians 4:3-7). The devil is the reason, not God's "election." God desires that all men be saved and has provided the means by which all can be saved through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In times past, the mystery of the gospel was not fully revealed, but now it is revealed as the wisdom of God according to
Ephesians 3:1-10,
Romans 16:25-26, and
Colossians 1:23-27).
1 Corinthians 2:7 in no way is teaching the doctrine of unconditional election. The context reveals that it is referring to the mystery of the gospel (the wisdom of God) and how the plan of salvation through Jesus Christ was ordained before the foundation of the world!
