No one likes it when people getting overly tough. I think that the Christians in Corinth had under-estimated Paul. When 'push came to shove' he was gave them a choice - you repent now and I'll come and see you all meek and mild OR you dig your heels in and in God's power you face what God's sending to you. How would you react to that type of talk?
