We see this verse as Paul is telling Timothy the power of forgiveness. Joy saw a pattern in Acts 7 as Stephen said, "Don't charge [Saul] with this sin. THEN in Acts 9 Saul is on the road to Demascus and was lost to be found. THEN in Luke when Jesus is dying on the cross and says, "forgive them for they know not what they do."
Forgiveness is freedom. And this freedom was already gifted to us by Jesus as Christ followers accepting that Jesus had already forgiven us. Forgiven people forgive!
We see Paul with an unoffendable heart and sharing the importance of this heart posture. Paul inspired us to see that we are never alone even if we are (or perceive that we are) abandoned. We ALWAYS have God the Father, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit with us. And we stand before the judge knowing this truth. SO NOW he can have a caring heart towards those who have abandoned him. He knows Jesus is ENOUGH!
