The focus of this study is to examine through what perspective you look at life.

LESSON QUESTIONS

• According to 1 Samuel 10:8, how long was Saul to wait for Samuel?
• According to 1 Samuel 13:11-12, what three reasons were given as to why Saul offered the burnt offering?
• Who sent Nathan to David? (Give Book, chapter, and verse)

LESSON AT A GLANCE

• Before there is sin, temptation/lust occurs. Be careful where you place your focus.

• If we only look at life through the prism (perspective) of someone's mistakes, none of us will be worthy and we fail to have the mind (heart) of Christ.

• Start counting your blessings, not all things that are wrong.

• Don’t let rein in our lives… Romans 6:1

• How can an adulterer and murderer be an example for us today?

○ God didn't dwell on David's sins, but saw what he could become. From his descendants, he brought the savior of the world (see Revelations 22:15-16)

○ To have the mind of Christ, we need to look at the bigger picture.

• How is David Like Jesus? Acts 2:29-36; Psalm 110:1

○ David Loved the Word of God… Psalm 119:47-49,97

§ It protects him from sin (see Psalm 119:11)
§ It comforts him in affliction (see Psalm 119:50)
§ It gives him great peace of mind (see Psalm 119:165)

○ Jesus Loved the Word…

§ He frequently quoted from it, especially at the time of his temptation (see Matthew 4:4,7,10)

○ David Loved to Pray… Psalm 116:1-2

§ God had answered him before; he is always willing to hear and is always there
§ God had greatly blessed him (see Psalm 116:12-13)
§ It brought him closer to God (see Psalm 145:18)

○ Jesus was also a man of prayer… Luke 15:16; Matthew 26:36-44
