Both Judas and the chief priests were willing to betray Jesus so that they might gain something they wanted, which in essence was their own pleasure. This is the very nature of sin - it turns away from God and His will so that we can pursue the things we would rather have and rather do.
We reflect on two things:
*Sin will move us to betray Jesus
*There are things we can do to fight against our sin
We are reminded that if we have never come to Jesus for salvation, we have the same heart as Judas and the chief priests, betraying Jesus for our own interests. Only once we know Him can we obtain grace not to betray Him but instead to find our pleasure in Him.
