This is the final verse in Paul's last exhortation to Timothy before Paul's departure into eternal glory. In 4:2-5, Paul gives Timothy nine imperatives encouraging and strengthening his son in the faith to fulfill his ministry and in this last verse concluding this exhortation, Paul tells Timothy, "Be watchful, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry"

God has purposed in each and every one of us a calling to work with Him in His plan of redemption and in this final exhortation to Timothy, Paul lays out the method in which we can fulfill our ministry.
