Joy seems like an elusive thing doesn’t it? We have ‘joy’ one day when our family is healthy and our job’s going well, then the next day things go wrong and we ‘lose’ our joy.

But the reality is that ‘joy’ isn’t something that happens to us, it’s something that we choose. That’s why the apostle Paul commands us to “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4). God created us to live with unshakable joy despite our circumstances. The apostle Paul wrote the book of Philippians from prison and yet it’s filled with joy, a joy that is fixed on the unchanging truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
