August 14th, 2022: A New City, Sunday School A New City Revelation 21:10-21 Sunday School August 14, 2022
While exiled on the isle of Patmos for witnessing for Jesus Christ (see Revelation 1:1, 9), the Apostle John received a revelation from God by the Holy Spirit concerning future events (see Revelation 1: 2, 10) that will culminate with the end of all history.

GOD ORDAINED MARRIAGE - It goes without saying that brides put a lot of effort into making themselves look beautiful for their wedding ceremony. For sure, it would be disturbing if not comical to see a bride walk down the aisle in pajamas! The idea of a bride being beautifully adorned for her husband is behind the description of the New Jerusalem as John saw it in Revelation. It’s a city that is beautiful inside and out, and the source of such eternal beauty and sinless existence is found in Jesus Christ, who will dwell there with us forever. This week’s lesson gives us a glimpse into the beauty as well as the safety of the New Jerusalem.

AN OVERALL VIEW OF THE CITY (Revelation 21:10-14)
A. The angelic tour of the city (Revelation 21:10).
B. The divine glory in the city (Revelation 21:11).
C. The wall and gates of the city (Revelation 21:12-13).
D. The foundations of the city (Revelation 21:14).

IV. UNIQUE FEATURES OF THE CITY (Revelation 21:15-21)
A. The measurements of the city (John 21:15-17).
B. The materials used in the city’s construction (Revelation 15:18-21).
As with everything God makes, His handiwork for the New Jerusalem was perfectly laid out
Many of God’s plans for eternity are not hidden from His followers. He plans to make everything new. The old order will be destroyed by fire and a new order will become a reality. In this week’s lesson, the Apostle John saw the heavenly city, New Jerusalem in a vision which depicted a concrete reality. God, Father and Son, will be the source of light in the New Jerusalem. The very presence of God will dominate and illuminate our eternal home. Although all of our questions about the eternal state are not fully answered in Scripture, one can see that our eternal home will be a glorious place where God dwells with His followers in fellowship and intimacy. Will you be there? The choice is yours!
