The Jewish leadership was still in the conversation with Jesus about who He is and we can even say who they are. They claim to be descendants of Abraham, but Jesus tells them that if that were true they would Believe Jesus because He had come from God. Jesus tells them that they are not descendants of Abraham but instead are from their father the Devil that he was a liar and a murderer from the beginning and they were trying to kill Jesus.
