A Vision of Victory: The Final Call
(Rev. 14:9-13)
I. It Promises Judgment for Unbelievers (v.9-11)
A. Those who willingly receive the mark of the beast will face certain judgment (v.9-10)
B. The judgment will be an eternal torment[cf., Rev. 20:11-15] (v.11)
II. It Promises Jubilation for Believers (v.12-13)
A. Because of their perseverance (v.12)
a. They keep God’s commands and demonstrate faith in Jesus [cf., Matt. 25:31-46]
b. The Location of the Lord’s evaluation
1. Judgment will take place in the Kidron Valley (Joel 3:1-2).
c. The Basis of the Lord’s evaluation
1. How the nations treated Christians both Jews and Gentiles [cf., Acts 1:11; Zech. 14:4]
2. This judgment is not to be confused with the Great White Throne judgment in Revelation 20.
- “There is no doubt that He will come again…Everything Jesus says about His coming is sure. It’s a done deal.”
B. Because of their practice (v.13)
a. These Christians lived their lives with an unwavering commitment to Jesus Christ.
Points to Ponder:
Are you committed to following Christ in your words, your work, and your walk?
Does your attitude reflect that commitment?
Will you be committed when it costs being persecuted?
