In this video, we will examine a common proof text that Calvinists use to teach the doctrine of unconditional election. We will look at how the Greek word "tasso" that is translated as "ordained" in Acts 13:48 is used throughout the New Testament. It will help shed light on a proper understanding of Acts 13:48 when we can see how it is also translated elsewhere in the New Testament as appointed, ordained, addicted, determined, and set. We can see in Acts 15:2; Acts 28:23; Luke 7:8; and 1 Corinthians 16:15, how the Greek word "tasso" is translated and is referring to actions, attitudes, and decisions of people. It is not referring to some divinely ordained predisposition to believing the gospel which was unconditionally granted by God to a select few individuals before the foundation of the world as the Calvinists mistakenly believe and teach. This video will help you to see the context of Acts 13:48 in reference to the unbelieving Jews who determined themselves unworthy of eternal life, contrasted with the believing Gentiles who determined or addicted (ordained) themselves to eternal life and believed.
