Our Father, you are the everlasting God and Possessor of all things. Every gain, return, and asset may be traced to your goodness. All success is the fruit of your sovereign good pleasure. You give the power to get wealth. You are the source of worldly riches. We have sinned by refusing to acknowledge your generosity while indulging our flesh and failing to be diligent. In selfish and sinful ways we have sought to enrich ourselves at the expense of others. With those in need we have been stingy but with ourselves extravagant. Often as regards good gifts we have been wasteful, and with our own possessions reckless, and in our spending uncontrolled. On many occasions we have lived on impulse, not by principle. Frequently our affections have been mastered by the desire for material things and we have fallen into idolatry. We have no hope apart from your mercy. Please forgive us for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

Minister: What is your only comfort in life and in death?
Unison: That I, with body and soul, both in life and in death, am not my own, but belong to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ, who with His precious blood has fully satisfied for all my sins, and redeemed me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me that without the will of my Father in heaven not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, that all things must work together for my salvation. Wherefore, by His Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live unto Him.
