Our Father, you are the Ancient of Days, the everlasting God who ever remains the same and whose years have no limit. All ages, seasons, months, and years exist by your sovereign decree, and they unfold according to your majestic good pleasure. You have given us six days for our own affairs and reserved but one for yourself. We have sinned by failing to be good stewards of your gracious gift of time. Some of it we have wasted in frivolous pursuits. Some of it we have squandered on selfish activities. Some of it we have misapplied to sinful endeavors. Worst of all, we have been careless, negligent, and unprofitable in sanctifying and enjoying the blessed and sacred Sabbath Day. By indulging our own selfish desires, we have often grown weary of your service, dissatisfied with your provision, and indifferent to the duty of showing love through sacrifice and self-denial. Please have mercy and forgive us for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

Minister: What is your only comfort in life and in death?
Unison: That I, with body and soul, both in life and in death, am not my own, but belong to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ, who with His precious blood has fully satisfied for all my sins, and redeemed me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me that without the will of my Father in heaven not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, that all things must work together for my salvation. Wherefore, by His Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live unto Him.
