WORSHIPPING WHEN ABSENT IN BODY BUT TOGETHER IN SPIRIT
This is just a suggestion to aid your Sunday worship at home, not to a dictation to restrict it.
[1] Opening Reading | Psalm 67 | Today we praise God, together with people all over the world, for his salvation in Jesus Christ. And today God blesses us so that we can make known that salvation to the ends of the earth.
[2] Song ONE | O LORD, MY ROCK & MY REDEEMER
[3] Prayer | Lord, open our hearts and minds by the power of your Holy Spirit, that as the Scriptures are read and your Word is proclaimed, we would hear with joy what you’ll say to us today. May we be cut to the heart by our sin, convinced of your forgiveness in Jesus, and empowered by your Spirit to respond as we ought. In Jesus’ name, amen.
[4] Reading | ACTS 2:1-41
[5] SERMON
In response to God’s Word we’ll sing of the amazing grace of God in the first coming of Jesus to forgive our sins. Then we’ll sing of our urgent need to respond rightly and proclaim this boldly in light of Jesus’ second coming.
[6] Song TWO | I STAND AMAZED
[7] Song THREE | REVELATION HYMN
[8] Confession of Sin | If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth isn’t in us. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. So, lets draw near with a humble and repentant heart, and acknowledge our sins before God [1 John 1:8-2:2]…
Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgement. Set us free from a past that we cannot change; open to us a future in which we can be changed; and grant us grace to grow more and more in your likeness and image, through Jesus Christ our Saviour, amen.
[9] Reading | PSALM 96
[10] Prayer | Psalm 96 calls the world to worship God because of his glory as the One true God, and because he is the just Judge of all. Acts 2 reminds us that the Spirit empowers the church to take these truths to the world. In response to this, take time to pray for the work of Wycliffe Bible Translators [more info on Playlist video]…
Let’s sing of giving our every breath as individuals to follow Jesus, and that the Spirit would put strength in us to do this together as a church…
[11] Song FOUR | YET NOT I
[12] Song FIVE | O CHURCH ARISE
[13] Benediction | REVELATION 22:20-21
