*Public Confession of Sin
Our Father, you are infinite and eternal, the only true and living God. You alone are worthy of our worship and adoration. All other gods are false and lifeless. They are worthless idols. And it is no secret that you take special notice of and are much displeased with the sin of having any other god. Yet we are guilty of failing to fully repent of and turn away from the sin of idolatry. Often, we have transgressed by serving the gods of popularity, power, pleasure, and prestige. Our chief end is to glorify and enjoy you, but at times we have sought purpose and delight in other things. Even good gifts you have freely bestowed have been distorted by our sin and treated like gods. Have we not idolized friends and family? Hallowed jobs and recreations? Venerated skills and achievements, beauty and strength? We are without hope save in your sovereign mercy. Please forgive us for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

*Confession of Faith: The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell;**
The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. ** i.e. his being buried, and continuing in the state of the dead, and under the power of death till the third day.
