Tonight we are completing Acts 3 and going into chapter 4.

A notable miracle happened in chapter 3 and an answer to the crowd's wonder at the miracle is where we begin tonight. Peter is careful to put the attention where it belonged and says it is because of Jesus. He does so by reminding them that Jesus was The One spoken of by the prophets. His language leaves no room for any other interpretation of those passages.

This created such a commotion that it brought out the temple authorities, who had them detained. In an fateful miscalculation they were asked by what authority they said these things? This was a question they would marvel at and regret once it was answered.

Again Peter gives the obvious answer, Jesus. He also makes them aware of their treachery, because he is addressing the same people who conspired with Judas. He also makes sure that they know the scriptures have spoken of Him, whom the grave could not keep. He then tells them there is no other name by which we must be saved.

This is a serious matter. These are the words of Peter and he says there is no other way. If one wants the hope of heaven, there are not many ways, nor are there few, but One.
