Our Father, you alone are majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, and exalted in the wondrous displays of your power. You are the first and the last, and besides you there is no god. With shame we confess that we have failed to live in a manner worthy of the gospel. In Christ you blessed us with immeasurable spiritual riches and made us fellow heirs with Him. But instead of living like citizens of heaven we have behaved like mere subjects of earth. The desires of the flesh have ensnared us, the desires of the eyes have entangled us, and the pride of life has intermingled itself with every part of our being. We have sinned and we are sinful. By law we are guilty and by nature we are corrupt. We have surrendered our principles, indulged our passions, and suffered defeats in the great struggle against iniquity. There is no good thing within us apart from your indwelling Spirit. Please forgive us for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

*Confession of Faith: The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell;**
The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
** i.e. his being buried, and continuing in the state of the dead, and under the power of death till the third day.
