Even in the midst of lament and frustration, we should never forget who God is and what God is capable of. Even when things seem desperate and bleak, the author of Lamentations provides a word of hope and promise. We are not to be in denial of the difficult circumstances we face, however we can still offer praise for the love, mercy, and faithfulness of God.

At St. Peter's UCC, we have had a difficult period of time. In the first of a two-part message to the faithful people of God, Pastor Chandler reminds the congregation from where they have come, who is their ultimate source of hope, and calls for them to keep perspective and know that "All Will Be Well."

Lamentations 3:1, 19-26

I am one who has seen affliction
under the rod of God’s wrath;

The thought of my affliction and my homelessness
is wormwood and gall!
My soul continually thinks of it
and is bowed down within me.
But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”
The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul that seeks him.
It is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.
