Jesus consistently warned His closest friends and followers to “keep watch” because they did not know, nor did He, the hour He would return to the earth. His instruction was to be prepared and to stay alert and busy, fully engaged with assignments and instructions—fully alert and not presumptive about how long they had to be obedient to their tasks. Well, that’s our lesson today: We don’t want to presume on the gift of time, and delay being busy with our assignments. Jesus said: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return…” (Luke 12:34-35, NIV®️). Let’s take Jesus’ warning seriously and be fully engaged in God’s Kingdom purposes today!
