"Arise, shine" from Isaiah 60:1 describes the glorious work that God wanted to accomplish through His chosen people; Ancient Israel.

Ancient Israelites were to be a light to the world. Their appointed work was to expel the darkness of misapprehension of the character of God and to bring to light the character of the God of love. But they failed miserably. By shutting themselves selfishly from the world their light turned to darkness.

God doesn't change so today He calls Modern Israel to awake from their sleep of complacency. Arise from their comfort zone and get to work.

We need to shine and reflect the glory of God. The glory of God is to be made manifested in our lives.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16
