Focus: Spiritual leadership
Text: 1 Timothy 4:14 – 15

SPIRITUAL GIFTS

1. It is given by the Lord according to His grace and will (Ephesians 4:7)

2. It has to be personally discovered (1 Timothy 4:14)

3. It must not be neglected (1 Timothy 4:14)

4. It has to be consistently developed and stirred up (2 Timothy 1:6)

AN IMPORTANT REMINDER CONCERNING SPIRITUAL GIFTS
(1 Timothy 5:14)

1. “Do not neglect”

a. It is so easy to neglect things!

b. A strong and active approach must be taken to prevent neglect!

2. “The gift that is in you”

a. The spiritual gift that was given according to the grace of God

b. The gift of God must be consistently developed

c. There must be NO neglect of God’s spiritual gifts!

3. “Given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership”

a. Paul reminds Timothy of his calling as an ordained minister of God

b. There was a special word given to Timothy concerning his gift

c. The grace gift bestowed upon him as a minister of God must not be neglected!

WISE COUNSEL GIVEN TO DEVELOP SPIRITUAL GIFTS SIGNIFICANTLY!
(1 Timothy 4:15)

1. “Meditate on these things”

a. To become deeper by practicing meditation on truths taught

b. There comes a richer understanding of truths through meditation



2. “Give yourself entirely to them”

a. To give of ourselves entirely to practice what has been taught

b. To be fully committed to it!

3. “That your progress may be evident to all”

a. If the truth of God has been applied well there will be obvious progress!

b. This progress will be seen by all!
