Text: 1 Corinthians 6:12 – 20
Title: Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit

OUR SALVATION IN CHRIST

1. We are bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:20)

a. That price is the Lord Jesus Christ

b. The Lord Jesus redeemed us with His life

c. Therefore, we are to glorify God

i. In our body

ii. In our spirit

2. We have a special union with Christ

a. God who raised Jesus up will also raise us up by His power
(1 Corinthians 6:14)

b. Our bodies are members of Christ (1 Corinthians 6:15)

c. We who are joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him
(1 Corinthians 6:17)

3. We are given the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19)

a. He is given by God

b. He is given to indwell us

OUR BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

(1 Corinthians 6:19)

1. Our body

a. Our physical body

b. It is to be used for the Lord

c. It is to bring glory to God

2. How our body can be a temple of the Holy Spirit

a. Sanctified by the Lord

b. Consecrated to the Lord

c. Dedicated to the service of the Lord

3. Warning against defiling our body (1 Corinthians 6:13, 15, 16, 18)

a. With sexual immorality

b. With harlotry (Prostitution)

HOW CAN WE GLORIFY GOD WITH OUR BODY?

1. Discernment of that which is helpful (1 Corinthians 6:12a)

a. All things are lawful but may not be helpful

b. The discernment to know what is helpful for our body so that we can use it to serve the Lord

2. Discipline our body (1 Corinthians 6:12b)

a. Not to be controlled or addicted by anything

b. Not to be abused with food or anything else (1 Corinthians 6:13)

c. Not sinning against our body (1 Corinthians 6:18)

3. Dedicating our body to the Lord

a. Conscious that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit
(1 Corinthians 6:19)

b. Conscious of glorifying God (1 Corinthians 6:20)
