Text: 2 Corinthians 9:8 – 15
VITAL TRUTHS ABOUT GOD AS WE PRACTISE GIVING
1. God is the ultimate recipients of our gifts (2 Corinthians 9:7)
2. God is also the ultimate supplier of our gifts! (2 Corinthians 9:10)
PRAYING FOR GOD’S BLESSINGS TO BE UPON EVERY CHEERFUL GIVER
1. Praying to God (2 Corinthians 9:10a)
a. “Now may He who supplies”
b. God is the supplier to be called upon!
i. He supplies seed to the sower
ii. He supplies bread for food
2. Praying for God to bless (2 Corinthians 9:10b)
a. To supply
b. To multiply
c. To increase the fruits of righteousness
THE FRUITS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
1. Giving is a practice of the righteous
2. God will bless the righteous with fruitfulness! (2 Corinthians 9:10)
TOUCHING HEARTS AND LIVES
1. Giving with all liberality (2 Corinthians 9:11)
a. The Corinthians were enriched with every material blessing
b. They were encouraged by the Apostle Paul to give with liberality
c. This would touch many hearts and lives!
2. The administration of this service (2 Corinthians 9:12)
a. Paul made sure that the gifts were carefully administered
b. He appointed good and faithful people to administer the gifts
c. The way that it was done ministered to many hearts!
3. Many hearts touched and blessed!
a. The needs of the saints met (2 Corinthians 9:12a)
b. Their faith was lifted-up resulting in many giving thanks to God
(2 Corinthians 9:12b)
c. They glorified God (2 Corinthians 9:13)
d. The fellowship of the Church was strengthened!
i. They prayed for Corinthians
ii. They longed to be in fellowship with them too!
THE GIFT THAT KEEPS GIVING!
(2 Corinthians 9:11, 14 – 15)
1. The Apostle Paul wrote with tremendous thanksgiving to God!
2. For His exceeding grace given!
a. The grace of God in salvation
b. The grace of God to practice righteousness to give and care for others
3. For His indescribable gift!
a. The greatest gift of God must be the Lord Jesus Christ!
b. Through faith in Christ many wonderful blessings of God were experienced!
APPLICATION
1. To know the joy of giving!
2. To grow even further in our faith through caring for others!
