Bible 101 Class - 1 Kings 12:16-24. This is a brief overview and not a complete lesson/class.

When God is giving us correction, are we rebelling with him more or seeking him more? This was the King of Judah's problem as he continued to rebel against God instead of drawing closer. Our heart must be towards God and our ear must be toward hearing the word of God. Only when he finally listened to the word of God not the fight against his brothers did he had the opportunity for peace and change. God is a God of addition and multiplication and not subtraction and division. In dividing the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah because of the King's sins (Solomon), he was preserving them and keeping his promises/covenants in spite of their unfaithfulness to both promises/covenants.
