Bible Contradiction?
How many pairs of clean animals did God tell Noah to take into the Ark? Two (Genesis 6:19, 20) or Seven (Genesis 7:2)
Pairs of clean animals were mentioned in the contradiction. Two in Genesis 6:19, 20 while seven in Genesis 7:2.
To clearly understand the Scripture, we must first cast all doubts and disbeliefs and set our mind that God makes no mistakes (Proverbs 30:5).
If two and seven pairs of animals were stated in the Bible, then there must be a reason. Genesis 6:19, 20 tells us that two pairs of animals to bring into the ark to keep them alive. While in Genesis 7:2, seven pairs of clean beasts to keep seed alive. Genesis 6:19, 20 never mentioned clean or unclean. This is the standard number of pairs to keep them alive after the flood. While in Genesis 7:2, five pairs of clean beasts were added and the reason is for offering after the flood. In Genesis 8:20, Noah burned the extra clean beasts as offering to the Lord. So, the two pairs of clean and unclean animals were kept alive while the extra clean pairs of animals were offered.
We can conclude that this is no contradiction. The person who is reading, meditating, pondering, or reflecting on the Word of God must believe the Scripture as inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Thus, free from all error (Proverbs 30:5). We may see an error(s), but human error or translation error only.
God wants to preserve life as much as He could. But man chooses to disobey. As a result, we suffer the consequences of our own and/or other mistakes. There will come a time when we will no longer suffer but enjoy the presence of God forever.
