The Parable of The Shrewd Manager

What did a rich man do for his possession? 16:1
=hired a manger
What kind of management would the rich master expect from the manager?
=increase his property
What was the management style of this manager? 16:1
=wasting his possessions
What did the master decide to do with this manager? 16:2
=Bring all the records and you are fired
What is the result of wasteful management?
=losing a job
3.The shrewd manager
What did the manager see his reality? 16:3
=waking up to reality
=What shall I do now?
What did he realize that he should do? 16:4
=how can I survive
=I need to make my friend
He seemed to have nothing. But what resources did he find to utilize for his future? 16:2
=account book
How much did the first debtor owe to the master? How much did he discount the debt? 16:5,6
=Nine hundred gallons, half
How much did the next debtor owe to the master? How much did he discount the debt? 16:7
=a thousand bushels of wheat, 200 bushels of wheat
=100 acres produce a thousand bushels
What might happen to the debtors when they could not pay their debts?
=so often, they have to sell their sons and daughters as slaves
If you were relived from the burden of your debt, what would you feel about the manager?
=thankful
What do people usually try to do with money?
=try to increase money
What lesson does Jesus give us through this shrewd manager? 16:9
=you may be welcome to eternal dwelling by using money
=while it is in your hands, use it for eternal life.
=help desperate people
=God will favor us
=use your money to make friends

Who is the rich master?
=God is the master
Who is the manager?
=people
What properties are under your management?
=time, money, property and gift
How have you been managing them? What is your management style?
=not very well
=wasteful
What does Jesus say about the management of the people of the light? 16:8
=learn from this shrewd manger for dealing with their own kind
How does Jesus evaluate our management?
a. 16:10 whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much,
and whoever is dishonest with very little with also be dishonest with much
b. 16:11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?
c. 16:12 And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?
=managing someone else’s property well, then God will give you your properties
When will more properties be added to us to manage?
=from very little, put our trustworthy
Who will give more properties to us?
=God

5. You can not serve both God and money.
What is the relationship between a servant and a master?
=servant and master: master bought servant and servant serves 100%
Who is our master; Jesus or money?
=Jesus
Why is Jesus our master?
=Jesus paid our debt on the cross
Why does Jesus put money in the place of another master?
=you can not serve Jesus and money at the same time.
Who said, ‘Make a lot of money and serve God by donating money and helping the poor.’?
=money loving Christians

6. How can a wasteful manager be changed to a shrewd manager?
=fear the lord
