John 4:43-54 Jesus Heals The Official’s Son.

1. After staying for two days in Samaria, where did Jesus go?
-Jesus stayed 2days in Samaria
-other people arrived in Galilee early
2. The author explains the situation of Jesus in 4:44.
Where was the place that did not honor Jesus?
-1st theory: people in Judea didn’t welcome Jesus
-2nd theory: Nazareth didn’t welcome, so Jesus went to Cana
3. What kind of faith did the Galileans have in Jesus in 4:45?
-v.45, 46 they had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival
-Cana in Galilee: Jesus changed water into wine
-Galileans had faith based on miracles

4. What problem did the royal official have? What kind of social position was it?
-v.47 a royal official his son was dying.
-unknown person, but high position, rich, power and authority

-v.47 he begged Jesus to come and heal his son, who was close to death

-faith based on miracles Jesus
-John 2:23, 24 Jesus didn’t trust them for he knew what was in each person

- Royal official: faith heard miracle plus own idea, own thinking, physical presence
-Jesus: only his word, full obedience, full surrender
-relationship between God and man,
-in my way and in my own time VS in His way and in His own time
-We have to give up my own idea and plan

12. Why might it have been difficult for the man to listen to the word of Jesus?
What showed that the man was listening to the word of Jesus?
-he didn’t argue with Jesus
-It showed he surrendered fully.
-This is the faith Jesus wanted him to have

13. Why did his servants leave his home?
-v.51 while he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living.

15. What fact did the father find from the word of his servants and the word of Jesus?
What did he learn about the word of Jesus?
-v.52 Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him. Jewish time started 6pm.
-Jesus words had power when we obeyed to His words.

16. How did one father’s faith in Jesus change the whole household?
-instead of funeral, they were blessed. There was great joy.
-one person believed whole family are blessed
