Why would Jesus curse a fig tree for having no fruit? It wasn't even the right season! Jesus had spent the previous day in the Temple and was on his way back. The religious leaders were like a fig tree with no fruit, one that would soon wither. We are all tempted to look to outward signs to confirm our connection with God but Jesus desires to see real fruit in our lives (Gal 5:22-23).
