From Chapter 1:3-8 of the prophecy of Daniel, (דָנִיאֶל), brother Gideon Levytam relays the difficult challenges that the captive Jewish boys experienced during the Babylonian captivity, (גָלוּת בָּבֶל). Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, forced them to learn the Babylonian language and pagan teachings, their food and customs, even exchanging their godly Hebrew names for names of their pagan idols. Despite Nebuchadnezzar’s attempts to make Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah forget the God of Israel, their God watched over them and preserved them.
