A STUDY OF DANIEL 8: 13, 14:
Dan 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
“I heard” A literal translation would read, “And she hear”
Who is ‘she’?
God’s church.
1John 4:6; John 8: 43 – 47
It is the faithful from the 1844 movement and beyond that hear and accept the message of the sanctuary truth that heaven calls and acknowledges as His church.
CHRIST RESPONDS DIRECTLY TO DANIEL
A literal translation of Daniel 8:13
“ And I heard a holy one speaking, and a holy one said to Palmoni, who was the speaker,’How long shall be the vision . . . . . ."
“We find them in verse 13: the speaker called the wonderful numbered; the holy one, and Daniel. These were the three persons in the vision. Now the more literal translation of the text makes plain that the speaker was the one Palmoni; for the Hebrews reads as follows: La-pal-moni, Ham-da-bar, unto Palmoni, the speaker. The Hebrew word, Palmoni is a contracted word. It contains the elements of two Hebrew words. One is pele, and the other is ma-na. The Hebrew word, pele, means wonderful. See Isaiah 9: 6. The word, mana means numbered. See Daniel 5: 25, 26. So, this contracted Hebrew word, Palmoni, literally means wonderful numbered. . This wonderful numbered is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. See Isaiah 9: 6. “So, one person in the vision, recorded in Daniel 8: 13, was the lord Jesus Christ; the second person, represented by the holy one, was the angel Gabriel. See Daniel 8: 16., and compare with Luke 1: 19. The third person was Daniel , the prophet. There was something about this vision which could not understand. So, the angel Gabriel asked the Lord Jesus a question for the benefit of Daniel, that the desire of Daniel might be clear. Instead of Lord Jesus turning to the angel Gabriel and giving him the answer, the prophet Daniel says that the speaker to him, to Daniel and gave the answer direct to him. Here is what the prophet says : “And he said to me; etc. Daniel 8:14.” So, Christ turned His attention directly to the prophet, and gave the answer to him personally” F.C. Gilbert, Practical lessons for the Church of Today, page 606 – 608.
“HOW LONG” IS “UNTIL WHEN”
How5704 (AD) long 4970 (matay)
The use of preposition ‘ad’ (until) and the conjunction ‘wa’ (then), in the answer of the Holy one, clearly indicates that the phrase ‘ad-matay’ is inquiring about the termination of the vision and about its duration, and should read, "until when"
Three terms to be understood:
“The daily”, “The transgression of desolation” and “both the sanctuary and the host”
The question in Daniel 8:13 is answered in Daniel 8:14 involving those three elements to be understood when the vision ends through the sanctuary.

THREE MEANINGS OF SADAG:
The Hebrew word for “cleansed”( # 6663 – nitsdag) contains three basic meanings, all related to the root word sadag.
The Complete Word Study Dictionary: Old Testament (AMG 2003): 6663- sadag; A verb meaning to be right, to be righteous, to be just, to be innocent.
In summary, then, the various stem and the verb forms of sadag have the three basic meanings of 1) “To put right’ or to “restore’ 2) “to cleanse”, or 3) “to vindicate”
With this biblical understanding and foundation, we are ready to analyze those three Noun Phrases in Daniel 8: 13.
RESTORING THE DAILY
The temple and altar are to be restored. Reformation did not restore it fully. Since 1884 these grand truths have been restored through the world through the remnant church. (See Daniel 8:13, Rev 11:1 – 2)
WAS PAGANISM RESTORED?
Was paganism “restored” or “set right” or “cleansed” or “vindicated” in 1844?
No
“TRANSGRESSION OF DESOLATION”
Paganism view interpreted “ the daily” and “the transgression of desolation” as pagan Rome and Papal Rome. They have no scriptural support.

פּשׁע
“Transgression” is linked to God’s people and the sanctuary. Rightly translated from the Hebrew “the transgression of desolation” is ‘ the transgression causing horror.” S.R. Driver, DD, the Book of Daniel, Cambridge University Press : 1922, page 118, 150-1, 205-6.
“Transgression” is connected with God’s people.
Daniel 9: 24 – transgression (pesa)
It can be confirmed in Leviticus 16.
Levi 16: 16, 21
“This word primarily expresses a rebellion against God and His people. . . . . in addition to the act of transgression itself, this term can also be used to convey the guilt that comes from the transgression (Daniel 8: 12, 13; 9: 24) of after that is presented to atone for the transgression.”
