Daniel 9:24-27 – Seventy Weeks or Years?
In this message, Dr. Younce levies a broadside across the bow of those who teach that the King James TRANSLATION, which he believes is the best translation we have today, is inspired in the same way as the Original Manuscripts were. The King James Translation is the best TRANSLATION that we have today for two reasons: 1. It is translated from a superior authority, the Textus Receptus; and 2. in the superior scholarship of the translators. The only inspired Scriptures are the Original Manuscripts for the 66 books which God personally “dictated” to 40 different men over a span of about 1600 years without a contradiction.
“For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. “ (2 Peter 1:21)
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: “ (2 Timothy 3:16)
In 2 Timothy 3:16, the word “inspiration” is the Greek word “theopneustos” and means “divinely inspired; or, God-breathed.”
Dr. Younce uses the prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27 to prove his point by explaining the use of the word “weeks” or “shabua” in the Hebrew language. “Shabua” simply means “ sevened,” and the meaning has to be determined by the context. In the case of Daniel 9:24-27, it has the meaning of a “week of years” or seven years. If a literal meaning for “weeks” is held to mean only 7 days for this passage, the One that all time is dated from, our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, would have come and gone…even before the rebuilding of the temple was finished!
