Psalm 78 shows me that I'm part of a really long story. I'm also part of a big family that has been following God, seeking Him, and remaining loyal to Him for generations and generations. There's value in telling these stories to our children. Our children can know who God is and have the choice to follow Him and learn from the stubbornness of their fathers. This verse points out the difference between stubbornness and steadfastness, but there is also a lot in common between them. Both stubbornness and steadfastness feel rooted and firm. It takes a certain kind of courage and obstinance to remain steadfast or to be stubborn. But being stubborn is very self-centered, whereas being steadfast is about relying on God. I want to shift from being a stubborn person who doesn't want to be told what to do, to being a person who is steadfast in trusting who God is. Are you a stubborn person like me? Do you see ways in your own life that you can make the shift from being stubborn to being steadfast?
