In this video, we will look at how the Word of God reveals to us that Pharaoh hardened his own heart as in
Exodus 8:15,
8:32,
9:34, and
1 Samuel 6:6. We can also read that the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart. These seem like contradictory statements at first, but when we examine other instances in God's Word such as Job suffering adversity and king David numbering Israel, we can receive powerful revelation regarding how when God permits something to happen, it is often described as having been done by God, even though God never caused it directly. Something was already wrong with Pharaoh's heart and God provided the occasion for Pharaoh's heart to be hardened, even though Pharaoh was the direct cause of his hardened heart. Similar to how David already had pride in his heart which then allowed Satan to provoke David to number Israel, and because God allowed Satan to use David in that way to bring judgment upon Israel, that occasion that the LORD allowed is written as the Lord who moved David against Israel to number Israel.
