Jeremiah 1:16-17 (KJV)
16 And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshiped the works of their own hands.
17 Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them. (Yeshua - means "YHVH's salvation", or "YHVH saves".)
And Jeremiah is pleading, and the LORD is
pleading through Jeremiah.
And He's laying a case now, and He's saying,
"I have this against you.
If you don't turn back to the LORD with all
your heart, calamity is going to fall upon you."
Now you know the Jewish people are the oldest
existing group of people in the entire world.
They have kept their identity for over three
thousand years. There's no other group of people that have
done so.
They were expelled. They were "expulsed."
And in spite of all of the persecution...in
spite of all the wars, and in spite of things
like the Holocaust...
the Jewish people are still here!
Amen!
The Jewish people are God's timetable.
And the fact that they came back to Israel
in 1948 is the fulfillment of the very great
prophecies of the LORD.
Today on the Jewish calendar -- how many know
what today is, on the Jewish calendar?
Does anyone know?
Let me see.
If I said it was Passover, some of you know
what that is, right?
If I said it was the Feast of Tabernacles,
you know what that is.
Some would know what Rosh Hashanah is.
All of these holidays that the Jewish people
celebrate, they're on their calendar,
They celebrate it religiously.
They celebrate it consistently.
This is one of their secrets as to how they
have kept their identity all through these years.
But today on the Jewish calendar, they celebrate,
or they commemorate a day called, "Tisha B'Av".
Tisha means 'the ninth'
B'Av means 'of Av.'
And the month of Av always falls in the summer,
and this weekend the Jewish people commemorate
what is called "Tisha B'Av."
What is it that happened on this day in history?
Tisha B'Av is the saddest day on the Jewish
calendar.
It's even sadder than the Day of Atonement,
Yom Kippur.
