Sermon Summary

Our culture describes the role of fatherhood in mostly negative terms. Our culture has relegated the role of a dad to the sidelines, and has labeled him as irrelevant. But the Bible paints a different picture. The Bible describes the role of a father as one of critical importance as a family leader, as a father, and as an example ‒ not just for his wife and kids ‒ but for everyone around him. God has called fathers to be difference-makers.

A good example of a difference-maker in the Bible can be seen in the life of Caleb. Caleb, along with Joshua, stood against the rest of the twelve spies, and assured Israel that they could take the Promised Land. Caleb stood against the culture of his day and lived a life of integrity. Caleb stood against the norms of his society, and left a lasting legacy for his kids and future generation. Caleb was a difference-maker.

In this Father's Day message, our Associate Minister, Nate Walter, encourages fathers ‒ and the rest of us ‒ to be difference-makers!
