Joy is not the product of perfect circumstances, but the fruit of trusting Jesus. The Apostle Paul found joy while shipwrecked, beaten, imprisoned, and falsely accused. Still, he declared, “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4 NKJV). Like Paul, we too can rejoice in hardship because our joy is not tied to what happens to us, but to the One who lives within us.

Jesus endured the cross “for the joy that was set before Him” (Hebrews 12:2 NKJV). That joy was you—redeemed, forgiven, healed, and free. He took our sin, shame, and sickness, leaving them at the cross. If Christ could rejoice in suffering because of the victory it brought, then we can rejoice in trials, knowing that God is working all things together for our good. Joy is not optional—it’s our strength, our testimony, and our weapon.
