Today we are going to take a few moments to give some advice which Our Lord Jesus spoke, in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 5 , and Verses 23 and 24. The Apostle Matthew records these words: "Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.” For a subject we shall use this thought: “FIRST, RECONCILIATION”
THERE IS a marked difference between memory and recollection.
Memory resembles a great box or chest into which a man casts his letters, accounts, and manuscripts; recollection is the readiness, be it less or more, with which he can lay his hand on what he requires. We know that it is somewhere in our possession, we remember to have seen and turned it over, but search as we may we cannot find or recall it.
