God provides remarkable glimpses of Jesus in the Old Testament. In this video - Daniel 9:24-26.
The angel Gabriel announced the coming of Messiah in the Old Testament as well as the New - and foretold both the building and the destruction of the Second Temple.

The Hebrew prophets were told by God all along that Messiah would be coming before the destruction of the second Temple, that God Himself would come into that temple, that Messiah would be killed, the temple would be destroyed and so would Jerusalem. Dear friends Jesus death and resurrection is the fulfillment of those prophetic words. No one doubts that these things were written before the time of Christ. People may question when Daniel wrote, or when this book was completed, but we actually have copies of the book of Daniel found amongst the Dead Sea Scrolls that go back many decades before the birth of Jesus and this is what they say. The fact of the matter is God predicted all along that the Messiah would come, that the Messiah would pay for the sins of all of God’s people, that the Messiah would die, He would be executed, and that judgment would come upon the temple and Jerusalem. It is what the Hebrew Scriptures said. It’s what Jesus said. It’s what history testifies to.
These are not simple Bible stories. This is divine truth calling all people to repentance, to faith in the Lord Jesus, to life with the living God, to be filled with the Holy Spirit, to understand that God is in control not only of the past but he’s in control of today and our future. The very Scriptures that predicted the coming of Jesus, His death, the destruction of the temple, those are the same Scriptures that predict He will return. In fact, the way the book of Daniel ends is with the announcement that at the end people will be traveling back and forth, that knowledge will explode. Boy, does that sound familiar? Daniel 12:2 take a look at it. It says that in that day, “Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.” God has laid out in His Scriptures all along a clear roadmap of what He intends to do. You and I from the vantage point of hindsight can look back and say, “Wow, He did exactly what He said.” What that means is He is going to do everything else He promises. That calls for you and me to walk by faith in Him. The good news of the Scripture is God knows how week we are. We can look at our own lives and and we usually go off into one of two dangerous areas. The one dangerous area is to look at ourselves in the mirror and say, “Look how good I am.” The other dangerous area is to look ourselves in the mirror and say, “I’m not worth anything.” What God says is, You are precious to me.” What God says is, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” What God says is that He loved the world so much that He gave the Messiah, His only Son. Through His prophetic word today He is calling each and every one of us to Him.
I would remind you once again the word coincidence is never used in the Bible, and that is because with God there are no coincidences. He keeps His word. He is faithful to His promises. Whether you are one who feels abandoned, or one who is smug and self-satisfied, He is calling to you and He is saying, “There is nothing in all the world more important than knowing me through faith in Jesus the Messiah.” If God has loved you and me so much that he was willing to die for us then our lives belong to Him. I’ll just say that is a great way to live. It doesn’t mean a life without difficulty. It does mean a life forever. It means that when Jesus returns the difficulties disappear. It means that when the Lord Jesus returns death and decay and sorrow and loss and tears and anguish will be wiped away forever. Daniel was given a glimpse of that over 2500 years ago, and history has since proven what he was told is true. It’s true for you and me as well. It is a message, a message that needs to be heard yes, but responded to absolutely. May that be the case in your life even as it is the case in mine.
