Freed from Captivity - Babylonian Captivity Ends Ezra 1:1-8, 11: 2:64-70
After 70 years of captivity in Babylon, which was now part of the Persian Empire, God’s people were permitted to return to their homeland. Some 300 years before the Babylonian Captivity, God spoke through the prophet Isaiah declaring that God would cause Cyrus, the king of Persia to give the Jewish exiles the opportunity to return to their homeland (see Isaiah 44:28). Isaiah’s prophecy was now being fulfilled.
Very important! Cyrus’s decree fulfilled a promise made earlier by the prophet Jeremiah (Jeremiah 29:10,14).
God can stir up the hearts of even kings to fulfill His purposes (Ezra 1:1-3).
When God sends us someplace He can use our enemies to help us (Ezra 1:4).Man may use God’s vessels for evil, but God can use those same vessels for good (Ezra 1:6-8).
If God promises to bring us where He wants us to be, He will provide for our needs (Ezra 2:64-67).
God will provide leaders to take us where He wants us to be (Ezra 1:5).
