Tonight we are in Genesis 45 and 46, though we may also see bits of 47. These are not only the final chapters of Genesis (50 total) but they are the closing narrative of Joseph making himself known to his brothers and his father.
Joseph sees God's hand in all of this and knows that God had used Joseph's brother's treachery to their benefit. Famine had gripped the known world and God's wisdom given to Joseph would sustain an empire and God's covenant people together.
It is, of course, an emotional matter for these brothers after the years of separation. It is also important to notice that although these people are far from perfect, in fact they are demonstrably failed humans in the character, God would make a nation out of them and their descendants. He had great plans, which He had made know beginning with Abraham and now to his grandson and great grandsons.
It is a fascinating ending to this part of Israel's history.
