We pick up tonight where we left off several weeks ago in Genesis 7:11 and we will rewind briefly because it is where we see the beginning description of the flood and Noah's preparation. We should be able to cover chapter 8 as well and get to the place where they were able to leave the ark. There is much that Genesis describes about this geological event the likes the world has not seen before or since and we will look at all of it tonight.

What's more, we can look at the world around us and see evidence everywhere we look of massive sediment deposits. We see fossils all over the planet in the layers of sedimentary rock. Genesis describes an event where a quick death and covering would provide, precisely as the Genesis account records.

The bible makes claims in these verses which we can observed in the world around us. It didn't just rain real hard, there was something much larger happening in the Genesis description. The earth was reshaped in ways we cannot fully grasp and the evidence in our world fit what Genesis teaches us.

While all of this unprecedented disaster is taking place, we are reminded of the care God took for those in the ark. There is a deeply theological matter being addressed in this passage though it can be missed when we try to understand the science of it all.

We will look at all of this detail tonight and I would again direct you to our friend Russ Miller and his ministry for much, much more on the topic of the flood. His is a must have resource on this topic as well as origins and answering evolutionary theory.
