Paul reprimands the Galatians for abandoning their initial calling and returning to the weak and beggarly elements of the law. Beginning on a harsh tone, he next reminds them of their initial reception of the Gospel. They had initially received him warmly and did not reject him because of an apparent infirmity. Instead they had received him as an angel of God or even as Jesus Christ. Paul then speaks to them as a father to his children, encouraging them to be zealous in a good thing.
