In the first Exodus, Moses led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and home to the promised land. In the new Exodus Jesus leads all God’s people out of the the slavery of sin and death, through his own suffering death, and resurrection to the new heaven and the new earth. This is the glimpse of glory on the mountain top that the disciples are given. In the meantime as the church, during these confusing times we continue to be faithful to "listening to God’s voice” and following where Christ leads. It is still this glimpse of glory that brings us hope and purpose.
Some discussion points from the video:
- "Time and place are important to us." Tell of a particular time and place that is significant to you and your faith.
- The coming of Jesus signified a new "exodus" (i.e. referring to the freeing of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt). What might the coming of Jesus signify in your life?
- "Glory not only shines, but glory also bleeds." What does this mean to you?
