Question: Are we in denial if we admit we are getting old?

Answer: I don't think so.  Flashback to Joshua 13:1, where the opening verse begins with God, saying to Joshua, "...You are very old, and there are still very large areas of land to be taken over."  Hmm. It makes me realise that as long as we are on earth, we all have an expiration date.  There should not be any shame to getting along in years or growing old or well advanced in years.  My goodness, it will happen to us all, sooner or later.  Later on, in Joshua 24:29, we will read that Joshua died at 110 years old.  There is a season and time for everything, including the seasons of life, which includes getting old and death.

But let us return to Joshua Chapter 15.  This is the Chapter dedicated to the allotment of land for the tribe of Judah. Caleb, one of the clans of Judah, was still as strong at 85, as he was at 40, to conquer the Anakites' land.  So he did, with Joshua's blessing and changed his land's inheritance name to Hebron.  He also gave his daughter, Acsah, to the warrior, Othniel, Caleb's brother, in marriage because he captured Kiriath Sepher, now Debir. Later, Acsah asked her father, Caleb, for the upper and lower springs, in addition to her inheritance of the land of Negev.

In Chapters 16 and 17, the allotment for the house of Joseph: Ephraim(CH 16) and Manasseh (CH 17), is distributed.  The 5 brotherless daughters of Zelophehad (Flashback to Numbers 27:5-7), also were included, as promised by Moses, in the inheritance of Manasseh's land.

Chapter 18 is when Joshua and all Israel met in The Presence of God, to cast lots for land.  The first, out of seven lots, fell to Benjamin.
