24-Rom.7.25" class="scriptRef">Romans 7:24-25 NIV - 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Romans 8:1-17 – LIFE in the SPIRIT…
Romans 8:1-2 NLT – So now there is no condemnations for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
3-Rom.8.4" class="scriptRef">Romans 8:3-4 NLT - 3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.
5-Rom.8.7" class="scriptRef">Romans 8:5-7 NLT– 5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
7. (Bring in separately…)
Galatians 5:24 NIV - Those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
2.2" class="scriptRef">Romans 12:2 NLT - 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. (Mind!) Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Colossians 3:1-2 CSB - So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Philippians 2:5 NCV - 5 In your lives you must think and act like Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NCV - 3 We do live in the world, but we do not fight in the same way the world fights. 4 We fight with weapons that are different from those the world uses. Our weapons have power from God that can destroy the enemy’s strong places. We destroy people’s arguments 5 and every proud thing that raises itself against the knowledge of God. We capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ.
9-Rom.8.11" class="scriptRef">Romans 8:9-11 NLT - 9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
12-Rom.8.13" class="scriptRef">Romans 8:12-13 NLT- 12 Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. 13 For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.
19-Gal.5.21" class="scriptRef">Galatians 5:19-21 NLT - 19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
15-1John.2.17" class="scriptRef">1 John 2:15-17 NIV - 15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
James 4:4 NIV - You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity (Hostility) against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses (wills, desires) to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
14-Rom.8.15" class="scriptRef">Romans 8: 14-15 NLT - 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children (Sons) of God. 15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
16-Rom.8.17" class="scriptRef">Romans 8:16-17 NLT - 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. 17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.
