Here are eleven points which this scripture today shows us about the Power of God!
1. God's Power to strengthen and trouble men. Joseph was strengthened by God for two more years of prison while Pharaoh was disturbed by a dream. (v. 1-7)
2. God's power to make men ineffective: the wise men and magicians Pharaoh called to interpret the dream failed and couldn't tell Pharaoh what the dreams meant. (v. 8)
3. God's power to make men remember: the cup bearer or butler dependent on your translation remembered Joseph had interpreted his dream. (v. 9-13)
4. God's power to deliver His servant because Joseph was needed to help others (v. 14-24)
5. God's power to give His servant insight: Joseph saw the great trial coming upon the earth (v. 25-32)
6. God's power to give counsel and wisdom and to speak through His servant: Joseph showed how the need could be met (v. 33-36)
7. God's power to use His servant: Joseph was exalted to be the 2nd man / governor (vs. 37-44)
8. God's power to meet His servant's personal needs. (v. 45) Public acceptance: given and Egyptian name, Social acceptance: Given an Egyptian wife.
9. God's power to make his servant wise and competent (v. 46-49). He was only 30 years old but was a great leader.
10. God's power to bless His servant's personal life: Joseph was blessed with two sons (v. 50-52) Manasseh & Ephraim...their names have meaning.
11. God's power to meet the needs of people through His servant (v. 53-57)
