Even in the darkest times in our lives, when our faith is tested, we can be faithful to rejoice in the Lord. Much of serving God faithfully is learning how to praise Him even when our circumstances are challenging. Our text from Habakkuk examines how God sustains the hope of saints during dark nights of the soul. Through these passages, we can be strengthened in our faith, even when our situations may seem utterly hopeless.
It is easy to trust God when we have things under control. But circumstances are not always under our control. It is during such times that our faith is really tested and refined. Our study reveals how the prophet responded to this disquieting piece of news (Bible Expositor and Illuminator Union Gospel Press, Summer Quarter 2022).
