(Hebrews 10: 32-39) - THE TRIBULATIONS AND THE GREAT REWARD.
Remember, however, the previous days, when you were enlightened, you suffered a great conflict of sufferings;
for on the one hand you were made a spectacle by both delusions and afflictions, and on the other hand you have become companions of those who were thus treated.
For you have not only been sorry for the imprisoned, but you have accepted with joy the plunder of your goods, knowing that you have yourselves as a possession more excellent and lasting.
Cast not away therefore your confidence, which has a great reward.
For ye have need of perseverance, that, having done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
For yet in a little while, He who is to come will come and will not tarry;
But my righteous one will live by faith, And if he retreat, my soul has no pleasure in him.
But we are not of them that turn back to perdition; but of those who have faith for the salvation of the soul. (Hebrews 10: 32-39)
Dear brothers in Christ, it is with great joy that we are studying the word of God together with you, in the presence of the CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, in the presence of the LORD JESUS CHRIST, and in the presence of the HOLY SPIRIT.
The story recounts the lives of those who have accepted the call of God. In the Old Testament, great men were called to the KINGDOM OF GOD, and to be part of the SALVATION PROJECT GOD ELABORATED FOR MAN, most of these men succeeded financially.
We can name a few: Jacob was a successful man, David was a successful man, Solomon was a successful man, but many prophets were persecuted.
As for example the prophet Elijah, and many other prophets were persecuted. When the LORD JESUS came, who announced the coming of the Lord Jesus, was John the Baptist, and John the Baptist died beheaded.
The first martyr of the Gospel is the Apostle Were, died stoned, the Lord Jesus himself died crucified. The apostles and John, James, all were arrested. And they went through many humiliations, but all saw the target, where they wanted to arrive, which is the victory in CHRIST JESUS.
All survived only by FAITH. And of FAITH, they never left. In the Epistle to the Hebrews, in chapter 11, in verse 6, it is written thus: "PRAY, FAITHFUL IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD." It is necessary to have FAITH, to continue the preaching of the Gospel.
In the subject of today we are studying in the 1st chapter of Hebrews. Where the author of this epistle, who to us is the apostle Paul, but many doubt, and say they do not know who wrote this epistle, but by the language used in this epistle, and by the way it was approached, we understand that it was the Apostle Paul who wrote .
Paul reports here from verse 32 on, the difficulties that preachers faced, begins: "WE REMEMBER THEMSELVES OF THE LAST DAYS, THAT, AFTER YOU ARE LIGHTED, YOU SUPPORT GREAT FIGHTES AND AFFLICTIONS." He means those who accepted the gospel, and began to preach the gospel. They went through many tribulations, and had to wage a great fight of the LIGHT against the darkness.
It was so difficult for them, that in verse 33, Paul speaks thus: "IN PART WERE MADE SPECTACLE WITH VITUPERIES AND TRIBULATIONS, AND HAVE PARTICIPATED WITH THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN TREATED". Vitupérios, that is, they were insulted, offended, beaten, treated, judged, condemned. And they served as a spectacle for those who lived at the time.
In verse 34, he says that many were arrested, and that many allowed their property to be plundered, that is, it was divided for others. And they allowed their goods to be stolen, and they accepted everything with joy, knowing that what was theirs is in heaven. A much better, and permanent possession.
In verse 35, he says that we should not give up our trust, because trust is in FAITH, which we have in the great reward (great reward that God will give us).
In verse 36, he says that we: "WE SHOULD HAVE PATIENCE SO THAT AFTER WE HAVE MADE THE WILL OF GOD, WE CAN ACHIEVE THE PROMISES OF GOD."
In verse 37, he analyzes the situation and says: "FOR YE STILL A LITTLE TIME AND WHAT WILL COME, SHALL COME, AND SHALL NOT TAKE." He means that soon, the prophecies will fulfill all of them, and the end of evil will come, and the end of the kingdom of the evil one will also come.
In verse 38, he states with certainty: "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE OF FAITH". But in this same verse he says, "THOSE WHO RETURN WILL NOT BE PART, NOT OF PROMISES, AND NOT OF ETERNAL LIFE."
Now in verse 39, he clarifies the firmness of character and opinion, and of FAITH, it says thus: "WE, BUT, ARE NOT OF THOSE WHO DESENT, AND RETURN TO PERDITION, BUT FROM THOSE WHO BELIEVE FOR THE CONSERVATION OF SOUL AND FOR ETERNAL LIFE ".
